FAQs

How long is the Trek?

The Strong Women Trek covers a half-marathon distance, which is 22km / 13 miles.

The Strong Women Adventure Trek is 10km/6.2 miles

How many Treks are there this year?

There are two Treks for 2026: our annual Strong Women Trek and returning Strong Women Adventure Trek.

Can I drive to the start venue?

The Strong Women Adventure Trek is accessible by car with free parking available at the YMCA. The Trek is a looped route, so you’ll start and finish at the same venue.

How long will it take me to finish the Trek?

The Strong Women Trek is not a race, and we want everyone to take it at their own pace. We have a two-hour start window (9-11am) to invite those that may take a little longer to start earlier in the day.

As a guide, the 22km route will take around 4-7 hours to complete.

Similarly, the The Strong Women Adventure Trek will take place in waves of 10 throughout the morning and will be led at a group pace. It will take around 3-4 hours to complete.

I am attending the new Strong Women Adventure Trek. What will my day look like?
  • Start the Trek with a 2K group canoe along Lake Windermere
  • Walk up forested banks to reach the Castle Tower
  • A second hill brings you to the iconic High Dam
  • Challenge yourself with a supervised clamber up a mini rock face or abseil down (or both)
  • A fun descent of a steep grassy bank using rope guides between trees
  • Traverse wooden platforms and rope bridges to bring yourself to the Trek finish
Do I need a certain level of fitness to take part?

No, the Strong Women Trek is open to all fitness levels. If you are not a frequent walker, we would recommend practicing shorter walks in your local area in the weeks leading up to the Trek.

As a guide, and depending on your pace, the 22km route will take between 4-7 hours to complete.

The Adventure Trek is also open to all fitness levels. However, please note that some activities may require a higher level of physical fitness e.g. canoeing, rock climbing etc.
