So, another pair of Shokz, but these ones are specifically for running. I liked the look of these headphones straight away – they come in a bright orange colour and are quite different from the other headphones I tried.

I’ve never used headphones that go round the back of the head like this and, embarrassingly, I initially tried to put them on back to front. When I put them on correctly, I thought the wire could get in the way if I had my hair up, but it didn’t. It is also fine if you have your hair down too. The only issue in this respect is if you lean back against a headrest it can dislodge the headphones.

When I ran, however, these felt the most secure of all the headphones I tried. The ear hooks did feel a little bit strange on my temples at first, but I got used to that pretty quickly.

Open ear headphones, again, mean you can hear what’s going around you, which is key for safety purposes, while the sound quality is still really good most of the time. It can be a little bit more difficult to hear if you are cycling, or somewhere a bit noisier, however.

The carrycase is handy but is a bit bulkier than the other pairs – and it doesn’t charge the headphones. At 12 hours, these headphones also have shorter battery life than the others. But as these are more just for running than everyday use, they would probably last a while. Just remember to charge them properly in advance. Thankfully, they do charge super-quickly (2.5 hours’ worth of listening time charged in five minutes).

It can be a bit confusing with all the buttons on these headphones, but with regular wear over a long period, you’d get used to it.

The OpenRun Pro 2 headphones make for really great sports headphones, but are not as versatile for everyday use.
