Vibrant, long-lasting colour and a boost of hydration – we had to put this new lip stain formula to the test.
One lip formula we haven’t been able to get enough of lately is a lip stain. They’re the one-swipe solution for a bold, long-lasting lip that doesn’t require any fuss to touch-up throughout the day, which is why they’re dominating our social media feeds.
There are the peel-off ones, the glossy finishes and the ones that look like just-blotted lipstick, but it’s difficult to find one that a) won’t dry out your lips, and b) won’t break the bank. And that’s where the L’Oréal Paris Hyaluron Tint Lip Stain Serum comes in.
Promising a pigmented wash of colour and 12-hour wear, all without leaving your lips crying out for moisture afterwards, L’Oréal Paris claims to have made the dream lip product. It’ll set you back £12.99, and shades range from a peachy pink to a rich red, and it can also be applied on the apples of the cheeks for a flush of colour.

L’Oréal Paris Hyaluron Tint Lip Stain Serum
buy nowWhat sets it apart from the get-go is the large, plush applicator. It makes it seamless to apply the serum-like formula to the lips, while the pointed end helps me create a smooth line around the corners. Texture-wise, it’s more watery than creamy, but it takes minimal swipes to get a bold, glossy wash of colour.
It looks like a pigmented gloss once applied, which can be left if that’s the finish you’re after or you can swipe after it’s set for a more natural ‘just eaten a handful of berries’ look. It’s super lightweight but leaves lips feeling conditioned – like you’ve just applied lip balm, but without the stickiness.
When it came to wear time, it didn’t quite last the promised 12 hours, although that may have been due to a lot of snacking on my part. It is relatively foolproof when it comes to application, and I can already predict this is going to be a handbag staple for when I’m on the go. It wears away very steadily, too – no patchiness in sight.
I’ve tested a lot of lip stains, and this formula was one of the most hydrating I’ve come across. It doesn’t cling to any dry patches either, creating a smooth finish. For £12.99, this is definitely not a launch to miss out on.
