Stylish egg holders are the new butter dishes – here are 9 to add to your kitchen now

Homeware

First, we went crazy for butter dishes, but now we’ve found a new countertop companion to obsess over: egg holders.

Just a few years ago, the only people you knew who had a butter dish in their kitchen were your grandparents. Well, it turns out they were onto something; these days, you’re more than likely to find a butter dish atop the kitchen counters of the most stylish homes around. Maybe you’ve got one, too. Not only are they a delightful addition to your kitchen counter or breakfast table, but they’re extremely practical – no more cold, hard butter for us, thank you.

Now we’re turning our attention to another humble countertop companion, and we reckon it’s going to be 2026’s equivalent of the butter dish – the egg holder. Small enough to tuck away and not take up too much vital countertop surface, egg holders are a nifty way to always keep your eggs to hand for all your baking, frying, scrambling and omelette-ing needs.

While some of us default to putting our eggs in the fridge, most chefs will tell you that they’re better when cooked from room temperature. And, while keeping them in the fridge will keep them fresher for longer, UK eggs are unwashed, which means they’re perfectly fine kept outside of the fridge for up to a couple of weeks – just keep them in a cool spot away from direct sunlight.

There are plenty of chic egg holders to shop right now – and there’s something to suit all tastes, from vintage-style florals to farmhouse-style wooden and cast iron options. However you like your eggs in the morning, keep them safe and to hand with one of these stylish picks…
