Get ready, because the new moon arrives soon. “The new moon in Capricorn will rise on 18 January 2026,” explains Honigman. “Every new moon is in the same sign as the sun at that time; therefore, the new moon of the Capricorn season is always in Capricorn.”
What will the new moon in Capricorn mean for me?
This lunar event could bring with it some transformative changes and shifts in energy. “The new moon is the perfect time to embrace new beginnings, whether it’s picking up the keys to your new house, registering the name of a new business or asking someone out on a date,” says Honigman. “As Capricorn is a business-savvy sign, the new moon in Capricorn is the best moon of the year to initiate career success. What star signs will be most affected by the new moon in Capricorn?
According to Honigman, the following three signs will experience the biggest impact during the new moon in Capricorn:
Cancer
There will be good changes for you this month, Cancer. “The moon is the ruler of Cancer, and therefore any lunar changes are strongly felt in the Cancerian’s life,” says Honigman. “Thankfully, the new moon in Capricorn brings little drama. It will push you to try harder at work, apply yourself and do better.”
Aquarius
This water sign can expect to be affected by the new moon. “Even though the Capricorn new moon itself doesn’t hold any special significance for Aquarius, this is a very busy time for the sign of the water-bearer,” says Honigman. “At the birth of the moon, Venus has already arrived in Aquarius, and on the day after the new moon, the Sun makes its way into Aquarius. Over the next 72-hours, Mercury and Mars will make that journey, too. With this whole party taking place in Aquarius, you could be forgiven if you blame your confusion and sleeplessness on the moon.”
Capricorn
Given this new moon occurs in Capricorn season, it’s perhaps unsurprising that this sign will be one of the most affected. “Naturally, the new moon in Capricorn will be felt in the lives and loves of the Capricorn,” affirms Honigman. “You’re hard-working all year round, so what does the new moon add? Vision. In the emerging light of the new moon in your sign, you can visualise ideas and directions that hadn’t occurred to you before.”
