The antique bob is the hair trend you need to know about, according to the Golden Globes

Hair

With sculptural waves and high-shine gloss, this vintage style is making a well-deserved comeback.

The beginning of award season is the highlight of an otherwise gloomy month, and we’re pleased to report the 2026 Golden Globes did not disappoint. Other than coming away with a whole list of TV shows to binge-watch and films to book cinema tickets for, there’s also the red carpet glam.

One look – or more specifically, a haircut – stole the show. Vintage old-school Hollywood vibes were the main theme of the evening, and a key element of that was down to the popularity of the ‘antique bob’. It’s not too dissimilar to the 1920s pin bob we’ve previously been envying, except it cements the idea that bombshell curls and fluffy texture are back in full force this year.

From Selena Gomez to Ayo Edebiri, this art deco style was the clear winner of the night. We’re talking mirror-like shine, face-framing curls and sky-high body from the roots. It’s the pinnacle of vintage-style bobs.

Like other trending cuts, such as the air pixie, this doesn’t skimp on volume. It’s so structured and perfectly placed that it appears sculpted. No stray hairs out of place – the opposite of the others we’ve had on our moodboard as of late, like the messier Notting Hill bob.

It seems like 2026 is shaping up to be the return of glamour and glitz, throwing all our minimalist hair intentions out the window, and we’re not mad about it.

If you’re looking to add some bounce into your bob, here’s all the hair inspiration you’ll need to nail the antique bob, straight from the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet.

Selena Gomez is no stranger to a bob, but lately, she’s been really nailing the perfect waterfall-esque waves (she’s so committed, she even wore them on her wedding day).

Ayo Edebiri’s eye-catching bouffant curls are as bombshell as it gets.

Ryan Destiny’s ear-grazing curls are perfect for those who are willing to go shorter than the average bob.

Upon first glance, Amanda Seyfried appears to have chopped off her long locks. However, it’s actually down to some strategically placed hairpins and a tucked low bun. Still, she nails the old Hollywood vibe (and has given us a great trick to test if we’d suit a bob).

Robin Wright is reviving the tucked bob, with flicky ends and a lot of volume at the roots.
