Here’s why the Notting Hill bob should inspire your next haircut

Bobs aren’t going anywhere for 2026 – here’s the one we’re adding to our hair inspiration board.

Looking for a fresh start in 2026? We hear you. Whether it’s a vision board or a set of new year’s resolutions, you might be in need of a change after the year that you’ve had. And one of the most underrated things you can do is get a haircut

Of course, a hair transformation isn’t going to change the world, but it might just give you the new outlook and fresh start you’re after. And if you’ve managed to dodge the influence of the bob over the past few years, you might be reaching the limits of your resistance – especially when you see the latest trending cut that experts predict will be huge in 2026. Say hello to the Notting Hill bob.

“The bob isn’t going anywhere, I feel it’s becoming even more refined,” says Michael Lendon, creative director at Aveda. This is where the Notting Hill bob comes in. Lendon describes it as an evolution of the French bob that dominated a few years ago – but a version that’s “less twee, more undone, more cool-girl in Notting Hill”. So if you’ve already been tempted by the French bob in the recent past, now might be the chance to make the cut.

Lendon says the main characteristic of the Notting Hill bob is effortless movement. It’s got the same chic, undone vibes of the French bob, but with a bit more structure and shape. (Think: airy layers and embracing your natural hair texture.) Overall, it embodies the ‘low-maintenance, but looks high-maintenance’ vibe we’re aiming for in 2026.
