Ever wondered what lip product managed to stay put throughout such a mammoth show? We finally found out.
Taylor Swift’s The End Of An Era documentary, now on Disney+, has not only given us some insight into the complex behind-the-scenes organisation involved in one of the most epic tours of all time. It’s also allowed us to peek into the singer’s day-to-day life – mainly, her beauty routine.
Beauty sleuths may have been able to identify the shampoos and body products propped up around Swift’s bathtub, as seen in the documentary. Still, there’s one mystery we haven’t been able to crack so easily: exactly what Taylor uses to create her signature red lip.
The Grammy winner is rarely seen without red lipstick, and some of her go-to products have been revealed in the past (in the music video for her 2022 single Bejewelled, for example, she wore Pat McGrath’s LiquiLUST Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in shade Elson 4). However, the question of which lipstick Swift wore for the entirety of each Eras show – one of the longest concerts known to man – has always plagued us.
It was difficult, but thanks to some expert intel, we believe the case has finally been solved. So, if you’re after a red lipstick that can stay put throughout a three-hour-long performance, you need to add the Mac Locked Kiss 24hr Lipstick into your basket before it inevitably sells out.
Blink and you would have missed it, but the slim, silver bullet packaging gave this one away. Swift has opted for the creamier, lipstick version – this product also comes in a liquid formula that has the same staying powers. It isn’t the most well-known lipstick from Mac Cosmetics, but it claims to withstand 24-hour wear, be transfer-resistant and deliver a rich, matte shade without drying out your lips.
These are some bold claims, but if you’re going to put a red lipstick through a durability test, we can’t think of a better one than the Eras tour. I mean, if it’s good enough for Swift…
The exact shade, on the other hand, was trickier to spot without a magnifying glass. But as Swift is a fan of a blue-toned red, we’re placing our bets on the shade Ruby True being her top pick. We’ll be buying a Locked Kiss 24hr Lipstick in every colour, thank you.
