Jesse’s House is the in-demand new members’ club for parents
With quiet spaces to work, a fully equipped fitness suite and – more importantly – childcare, Jesse’s House is the in-demand club parents are clamouring to join. Stylist’s Jenny Tregoning checks in.
Anyone with young children will know the struggle of trying to enjoy a meltdown-free lunch out or the naïve optimism that you can let them burn off some energy in soft play while you quietly catch up on emails. Sadly, the modern world rarely caters well to the needs of both parents and children.
Enter: Jesse’s House, a members’ club meets coworking space meets crèche, which opened last year in leafy Parsons Green. It’s part of a new wave of venues designed with the whole family in mind – and it’s got the formula nailed.
Decked out in soothing dusky pinks and deep pistachios, with an olive tree-lined courtyard and plush loungers, Jesse’s House has an aura of calm, despite the gleeful screams from the playground. There’s the chicest indoor soft play I’ve ever seen, with areas for babies and older children plus excellent coffee and moses baskets within arm’s reach (a non-negotiable for sleep-deprived parents).
Elsewhere, you’ll find a blissful adults-only fitness suite with gym, studios for yoga, spin and Pilates, an indoor and outdoor pool, plus The Study, a dedicated workspace for when you do need total quiet.
But most importantly, there is a crèche which takes babies from three months old and a kids’ club for over-fours where you can drop your child while you crack on with that quarterly report – or crash out on a lounger, the choice is yours.
After checking in with my family on a Sunday morning, my four-year-old headed off for a Little Chefs cooking class (guacamole and tortilla chips which we devoured later) while I took the opportunity to indulge in a Vinyasa Flow class. Headspace restored, we regrouped at the restaurant for lunch. Even here, there’s a mini soft play and slide in the corner, so once the children have wolfed down their cheesy pasta you can enjoy your miso salmon donburi and vinho verde in peace.
The thing that makes Jesse’s House special is that every little concern has been catered for – from the high chairs and bean bags scattered throughout to The Den with its air hockey and Pac-Man tables for older children, to the grab-and-go snack bar that ensures hangry toddlers are never more than 10 metres from a rice cake.
I left with a phone full of interiors inspiration and a sense we had all got the most out of our day – a truly rare occurrence.
